We are looking for a young-at-heart, enthusiastic teacher who can really put some buzz into the classroom and create a fun environment for the students to learn in.
Due to the lively nature of some children we also require a teacher who is confident in both their ability to teach in a fun manner and maintain a tight control over the students without creating a negative atmosphere.
The teacher must have a teaching qualification or a proven-track record in TEFL. In addition, the teacher must be fit and healthy as many lessons are activity-based.
We also require a teacher who is confident in dealing with any emergencies which may arise in a calm and mature manner. You must also be willing to travel alone.
Pathways International English School
Pathways International English School is a language school which delivers short courses (1 or 2 weeks) to children who are unable to travel to England. We are essentially a travelling language school. We deliver our short courses to students aged from 7-16 during the holidays. We send native English speaking teachers to the students school to deliver a fun-filled, activity-based course. The idea is to give these students an opportunity to learn English with native level speakers during their holidays and to have a lot of fun at the same time.
The course is called The English Experience and its aim is to encourage students to speak in English and to boost their confidence in using the language. The course is an opportunity for all the students to put into practice what they have already learnt throughout their school year thereby complementing the schools existing curriculum. We are not there to replace the curriculum which is why the emphasis is placed on using what they already know.
The course philosophy is for both students and teachers to have fun whilst learning. It's important to remember that it is the students holiday and they do not want to be indoors all day. Consequently, many of the lessons have been designed so they can be taught outdoors. Like wise they can be taught in a classroom.
Most of the courses take place in the students very own school so they will be learning in a familiar environment. This also provides peace of mind for the parents by knowing where their young children are and what they are doing. At the end of the course we will move on to a new school and deliver the course to fresh group of students.
There are 6 x 50 minute lessons per day, Monday to Friday. This equates to 25 hours of English teaching. The first lesson normally starts at 9am and will normally finish about 3.30pm.
All the lessons have been designed and prepared for you with all the necessary props and realia. Each student will have their own workbook with each lesson in it and each teacher will be given a teachers book with detailed instructive outlines for each lesson.
Teachers are expected to be at the school from 8.30am onwards and are responsible for the health, safety and well-being of their class of students throughout the day.
Class sizes will be up to a maximum of c.15 students.
